Honorary Consul in Durban

Honorary Consuls can offer many but not all services. There are some special provisions when consulting us. Applications launched with us in Durban will be forwarded to the Embassy in Pretoria for processing.

Fees are set in Euro by the Embassy in Pretoria and may vary according to the current exchange rate. Please use an online currency converter to learn about the approximate amount in ZAR; the exact amount will be confirmed during your appointment.

Regarding visa and passport, the fee is twofold: The visa or passport fee charged by the Embassy in Pretoria and which is set in Euro, plus the processing and courier fee for the interaction between Durban and Pretoria and which is set in ZAR.

The additional processing and courier fee charged by the Honorary Consul is 430,- ZAR.

Discounts may be given by arrangement for applications of groups or to travel agencies and visa agents.


We accept:

  • EFT (ZAR): bank transfer prior to the appointment
    Please estimate the amount with the help of an online currency converter and round it up to the full 10,- ZAR. Any over- or underpayments will be charged or refunded on the day of your appointment.
  • Cash in ZAR or by credit card (Visa/Mastercard/Diners): an additional bank fee of 50,- ZAR will be charged

Regarding visa and passport, the fee is twofold: The visa or passport fee charged by the Embassy in Pretoria and which is set in Euro, plus the processing and courier fee for the interaction between Mauritius and Pretoria and which is set in Rupee.

The additional processing and courier fee charged by the Honorary Consul is 2.400 MUR for passport applications and 2.800 MUR for visa.

We only accept payment in cash in Mauritius Rupee (MUR).

For the most part, the information offered by the Embassy in Pretoria is also valid for applicants in Mauritius. There may, however, be a few differences about which we will inform you personally.

In particular, Mauritian certificates (birth certificates, marriage certificates, divorce orders, etc.) must be furnished with an Apostil.

Schengenvisas: Citizens of Mauritius may enter Germany visa-free for visits of up to 90 days in a 180 day period. Citizens of other countries, who are not visa-free and reside in Mauritius must apply for a Schengenvisa directly at the German Embassy in Pretoria. Contact the Embassy.

Translations: We offer translation services in German/English/French. Please note, however, that we cannot guarantee that our translations will be accepted in Germany. If in doubt, please commission a sworn translator in Germany.

Mauritian citizens do not require a visa to enter Germany for short stays of up to 90 days in a 180 day period. Requirements to enter Germany:

  • Mauritian passport, valid for at least 3 months after the end of the intended stay.
  • return ticket
  • proof of purpose of trip (e.g. invitation letter, travel bookings)
  • proof of financial means
  • travel medical insurance
