The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Pretoria has a vacancy for a part-time position as administrative support at the Legal and Consular Department.

The position is to be filled from August 3, 2026 with working hours of 30.75 hours per week. The first 6 months are considered a probationary period.

Main tasks:

  • Carrying out all work required for processing passport and visa applications (accepting applications at the counter, data and biometric recording, preliminary application review, label printing, filing documents etc.)

  • Providing information to applicants regarding consular and legal matters by telephone and in writing in German and English

  • Work in other areas of the legal and consular department if and when required

Requirements:

  • Secondary school leaving certificate or higher level certificate

  • Good knowledge of German (minimum requirement level B1) and very good knowledge of English (fluency in writing and speaking); knowledge of additional languages is considered a bonus

  • Experience in dealing with customers is an asset

  • Customer-orientation skills as well as ability to work in a team

  • PC user skills (MS Office) and willingness to familiarisation with consular software

We guarantee expert training in the consular and legal department. The employment relationship is subject to South African laws and will be remunerated at local standard.

A valid residence and work permit for South Africa is a mandatory requirement.
